Dee Bowman

About this sermon

Dee Bowman says he hopes this meeting will benefit the church and bring glory and honor to the Father in heaven, which he calls the whole idea of these activities. He first speaks of his long friendship with Tony, whom he has watched grow in the faith and in his preaching, and greets people he has known in times past. He then says that age creeps up on us and that he has looked forward to this meeting. The transcript ends after his line “The Bible is about people,” before the body of the lesson.

1. We've Been Friends for a Long Time

Well, good morning, ladies and gentlemen. I suppose I should react to those accolades that have been paid already. I have the same kind of mutual admiration for Tony as he has for me. We’ve been friends for a long time, and I’ve watched him grow in the faith and in his great preaching capabilities, and I was so disappointed when he left Texas, and I was glad when he came back home. It sure is good to see him, Sherry again. We’ve been close friends, as I said, for a long time. I’ve known a lot of you people in times past, and I know what you’re thinking right now because I haven’t seen some of you in quite a while. You’re saying boy, he sure looks different.

2. Glory and Honor to Our Father in Heaven

So do you. I just thought I’d get that out of the way before we got going to. age creeps up on us, doesn’t it? Before you know it. I was talking with Brother Edward, and we’ve known one another a long time, and we were comparing ages, and we decided we knew one another under the old law. So it sure is good to be with you. We’ve looked forward to this for a long time, and I hope that it will be something that will be beneficial to the church and that will bring glory and honor to our Father which is in heaven. That’s the whole idea of these kinds of activities. The Bible is about people.
